High-interest payday loans are unconstitutional in Arkansas, their state Supreme Court ruled unanimously Thursday, but that is not planning to stop one home-grown loan provider who channels his payday advances by way of a southern Dakota finance business he chartered.

“We are extremely pleased about today’s ruling,” said Todd Turner, the Arkadelphia lawyer who may have dogged the payday industry for approximately 10 years. “This is just a great triumph for Arkansas customers. There are numerous attorneys, including my co-counsel, Chris Averitt, and companies whom worked quite difficult about this situation, and now we wish that this may signal a finish to usurious lending that is payday Arkansas.”

Arkansans Against Abusive Payday Lending, a coalition of companies and people who possess worked to curtail these unjust methods, happens to be instrumental in developing awareness that is public of issue.
